Welcome to Flat Track Roller Derby San Antonio!
Roller Derby Thriving in the Alamo City!
As we approach the start of the Alamo City Rollergirl’s (ACRG) 2013 season, we are proud to announce that there have been some exciting changes in the roller derby community of San Antonio.
The Alamo City Rollergirls, founded in 2006, are San Antonio’s original all female flat track competitive roller derby league. Since that time other leagues have sprouted up in the city, one of which was San Antonio Roller Derby (SARD). As of February 1, 2013 league leaders in SARD have decided to close operations and have cancelled games scheduled for it’s upcoming 2013 season.
Upon notification, the Alamo City Rollergirls extended a tryout opportunity to any SARD skater wishing to continue skating and playing roller derby in San Antonio. We are pleased to announce that all skaters who have expressed interest in transferring to ACRG have been invited to participate in our new skater training program. Fans just may see some of their favorite former SARD skaters bouting in black and green this year. We are all so excited!
The Alamo City Rollergirls’ 2013 season kicks off on Sunday, March 10, 2013 as our travel team, Las Tejanas, takes on the Texas Rollergirls’ Firing Squad, from Austin, TX. ACRG’s home team, Las Pistoleras, will be lacing up their skates and hitting the track with the Thunder Kittens from San Angelo Rollergirls. This bout will be one great season opener! Hope to see you all there.
July 7, 2013 BOUT 5 - Las Tejanas vs. TXRG's Hustlers & Men's Bout Featuring Countdown City Chaos
The 2013 season keeps rolling on! In ACRG's 5th bout of the season, Las Tejanas will be taking on The Hustler's from Austin's Texas Rollergirls (TXRG), where modern flat track roller derby was born. The amazing skaters from TXRG have been mentors and (s)heros to Alamo City Rollergirls and Las Tejanas can't wait to hit the track with them!
We are very excited to be hosting guest men's roller derby league Countdown City Chaos from right here in San Antonio! This will be the first time ACRG hosts a men's bout so be there for all the action!
